I’m just in awe right now. I haven’t posted anything in a really long time, just haven’t been inspired. That changed today. I was flipping t.v shows on Netflix, finished watching Titanic, and stumbled on to Tedx talks. All I can say at the moment is wow.
Okay, so I’m totally interested in why people with disabilities seem to be perceived as “strong” or you know, “inspirational”. I think it’s just that “normal” people don’t get it. And people get very offended when that is pointed out to them. They’re not going to understand it, they shouldn’t even try to understand it. They just risk being condescending. I’m not here to play this game of tiptoe, I’ve got better things to do. I could be watching Scooby Doo right now; but nope; I’m writing this little post instead. Who decides what is normal? Is it the literature we read? That probably influences the way people think to some degree. I’ll probably flush this idea out sooner when I’m not half asleep, I think I actually have a post somewhere in my drafts about disabilities in children’s lit…. I just wanted to get this out there first.
